On behalf of all the staff members, I would like to welcome everyone to Clarin College. It is a privilege to serve as the Principal of a school with such a rich history of excellence in teaching and extra-curricular activity. A glance through these pages will introduce you to what we offer our students and indeed what they offer us in return.
Clarin College is a co-educational, multi-denominational Community College of 880 post-primary and 54 post leaving cert students and a teaching staff of 75. We are supported by 14 Special Needs Assistants, 3 Clerical Officers, 2 Caretakers and 2 Cleaning Staff. Since our foundation in 1968, we have strived to create a positive learning environment. Clarin College offers a complete range of subjects with the most up-to-date facilities.
A special effort is made to ensure that all students have access to a broad mix of scientific, academic, technological and artistic subjects. Our school has an outstanding reputation for care, and I am proud to be part of such an excellent school.
Our goal is to ensure that all students become critical thinkers, active problem-solvers, inquisitive readers, diligent researchers and prolific writers. We do all of this to prepare your child for the demands of the real world, so they may become productive citizens, future leaders and contribute positively to the community.
Quality education is all-important, and our excellent academic programme and the special recognition of each student's unique individuality offers the most exceptional start in life. We nurture, challenge, support and encourage our students and in return, they 'respond' with a passion for life, a love of learning and the courage to serve others.
I would like to encourage each parent/guardian to stay active in your child's education. I certainly realise that many of you lead busy lives. However, taking just a few minutes in the evening to talk with your child about school, or simply see that your child is organised for the next school day can have great benefits. Our school diary is an excellent way of checking that your child has completed all of his assigned work.
Our school uniform is important because it symbolises a specific purpose for the day: learning. It creates a sense of belonging and identity with the school community, which extends to a feeling of pride in performance and appearance. I would encourage parents/guardians to ensure their child have the correct and full uniform for each school day.
I extend a greeting to our many past pupils and take this opportunity to say to you that your school is proud of you and you are always welcome back to reminisce with staff and to see the changes taking place in the school.
Your child's personal well-being is essential to us. If you have any concerns about your child or indeed any of their friends, you must let us know. Furthermore, if you have any ideas on how we can improve our service, please leave your thoughts with us here.
I am proud of our present student cohort and the great determination with which they pursue the very many varied and exciting programmes on offer in the school.
I hope you enjoy reading through our website and thank you for visiting.
Sincerely,
Daniel Hyland
Principal/Secretary to the Board of Management
