🚨 Status Red Alert: Schools Closed on Friday, 24th January 🚨
Met Éireann has issued a Status Red Weather Warning for Galway due to Storm Éowyn. Following advice from the National Emergency Coordination Group, all schools in affected counties, including Clarin College, will be closed tomorrow, Friday, 24th January.
While the red weather warnings are expected to end between 10 am and 3 pm in different counties, schools will remain closed for the entire day. Travel during the red warning period is not safe. Once the warning expires, schools may need to conduct safety checks to assess potential damage and ensure the well-being of the school community. Parents and staff will also need time to prepare for reopening.
Given these factors, as well as concerns about safe transport and the unpredictable nature of red warnings, the Department has confirmed that it is not possible or practical for schools in red warning areas to open on Friday.
👉 Please remind your child to stay safe and remain at home during the extreme weather.
Take care and stay safe over the coming days! 🌬️
